Jennifer Steel - Curve & Glamour Model

I personally think that Plus Size Models are beautiful, voluptuous and curvy people with self-confidence who just love to embrace their body and minds. Plus Size comes in so many different ways. We’re all different and beautiful in our own way. You won’t always be everyone’s cup of tea, especially when it comes to social media. I’m shocked at how body- & fat shaming happens to be such a normal thing in our community these days. Don’t get scared or insecure of that. Don’t think too much about why things won’t work out at first. Embrace yourself in any way you like and just continue doing your thing. The key to success is patience, hard work and a lot of passion.

  1. Dear Jennifer, tell us where are you from, something about growing up period

Born and raised in Munich with a German mother and a Nigerian father, I had the best childhood I could ever dream of. My father was and still is a musician and always used to take me to his gigs where I had lots of fun watching him doing what he loves. My family is full of artists, a bunch of creative, supportive and inspirational people and fortunately I happened to be a passionate artist too 

  1. Teenage dreams ?

My teenage dream was to be successful in the modeling & fashion industry. As a child I always used to admire all these beautiful girls on men’s cover magazines and I knew from the very first second I looked at it that I secretly found my passion, my hobby and my future profession. For some reason it always seemed as the most glamorous thing to me. My ideals of the perfect woman, at least at that point. Things have changed a lot from then when it comes to ideals of a perfect woman.

  1. Any idols during the teenage period ?

Dita von Teese always have been my idol, my muse and one of the most inspirational people in my life. She is the Femme Fatale of the 21st century. One of my favorite books is the Art of Teese where she published a bunch of high class fetish- and lingerie shots. I used to spend hours and hours admiring them!

  1. Plus size modeling. When have you decide to go into that world and promote plus size models?

I started modeling at the age of 17. At first it was just a fun thing to do with friends from school who were very talented hobby photographers but I was actually never satisfied with the results so I started working with professional photographers in Munich. Later to that I started networking with other models and photographers in that community through social media and Munich based events, which helped me a lot getting into the whole world of modeling in general. I now shoot with people from all over the world, recently in Los Angeles and sooner this year Munich and Helsinki too.

  1. What is considered by plus size model?

That’s hard to tell. For some people, a Plus Size Model starts at size 12 for some even at a smaller size. I personally think that Plus Size Models are beautiful, voluptuous and curvy people with self-confidence who just love to embrace their body and minds. Plus Size comes in so many different ways. We’re all different and beautiful in our own way.

       6. What is most important when it comes to the psychological aspect of plus size models?

Definetly a healthy portion of self-confidence. You won’t always be everyone’s cup of tea, especially when it comes to social media. I’m shocked about how body- & fat shaming happens to be such a normal thing in our community these days. Don’t get scared or insecure of that. Don’t think too much about why things won’t work out at first. Embrace yourself in any way you like and just continue doing your thing. The key to success is patience, hard work and a lot of passion.

  1. Are you a full-time model? I've seen some photos from fashion shows. Tell us more about them.

I am currently a part time model. I do have a normal full time job that keeps me busy but my modeling jobs continue to grow more and more which is actually a very good thing to me. I have a lot of other projects and work related goals for now I am very proud and happy of what I achieved so far. I also used to run for a few fashion shows in the past. The legendary corset and thighs photos were made right before a burlesque fashion show. I currently don’t do any fashion shows but lots of advertising and acting for an agency in Munich.

  1. Your favorite way to express your self-confidence as a plus size model?

I love to wear tight and sexy clothes! No matter where I am. With a pair of High Heels, Lip Gloss and a bra with matching briefs underneath, there is no way to express self-confidence more as to look smoking hot and letting everybody know  Some people will hate it which makes it even more fun. Provoking is probably one of my favorite Hobbies! I also love to spread and share my self-confidence through social media and encourage other girls to gain more confidence and self-love. It’s very important to me to spread this message out to the world!

  1. You have phenomenal photos in corset and tights. Do you, in general, love sophisticated & sexy lingerie?

Lingerie, I am crazy about it! I started to evolve my weakness together with Dita von Teese as she is one of my idols and still inspires me every day. Wearing lingerie makes you feel like a femme fatale, it makes you feel good and self-confident about yourself.  I’m working on doing more lingerie based photoshoots in the future as it feels most comfortable and fun to me.

  1. High heels - you love them ???? Tell us about that passion when it comes to high heels shoes.

I could talk about it for ages! I remember being 5 years old when we went to my grandmother’s house for coffee and tea. I spent most of the time admiring the beautiful Vintage Heels in her closet. The higher the Heel the more I loved them. I’m wearing Heels since I’m a teenager and I could never ever live without them. It’s phenomenal how your whole posture changes as soon as you wear Heels. A pair of Louboutins is a must in every woman’s shoe closet!

  1. What kind of wardrobe and lingerie makes you most comfortable and sexy at the same time?

I feel most comfortable in a super tight bodycon dress, my 5,9 inch Louboutins and a bra with a matching garter belt and black stockings underneath. The only thing that could be sexier is when you take off that dress ;)

  1. Do you have any hobby?

Exotic Pole Dance and Traveling are my hobbies right now. I started Pole Dance in April this year and couldn’t stop ever since. It’s so much fun and a good workout too! Fortunately there are Pole Dance Schools almost everywhere so it’s super easy to do combine while I’m on vacation. I recently did a Pole Dance Course in West Hollywood a few weeks ago at a girls class I met during a stay in Hollywood legendary strip clubs! Next stop: Helsinki!

  1. What kind art do you like? Music, movies, books?

I’m a sucker for music. I have a special connection to it as my father is a musician. I grew up with music everywhere I was. It’s amazing how music expresses your inner feelings in so many different ways. As a teenager my favorite band used to be the Red Hot Chili Peppers and I used to listen to all of their albums while drawing and writing my own stories. I went crazy when I first saw them life at the age of 12, I will never forget that. I also love any kind of art.

  1. Can you give some advice to a plus size models, how to build self-confidence?

Love yourself the way you are. Love your body to the fullest and tell yourself everyday “I am beautiful and I love myself for who I am”. And instead of always saying “I can’t do that” ask yourself “why not?” and just do it? The only regret we have is for all the things we didn’t do. That’s what I do every day.

  1. Social media where people can see your modeling work?
