When I was a young adolescent I made it known to my family and to the world that I am a transgender. It need not be verbalized actually. All that I did was go out with other trans friends and join pageants here and there. I didn't experience any disapproval because I guess the household needed a princess
1.Tell us something about your roots and childhood time.
I come from Cebu City, specifically in Cabantan which is dubbed to be the home of Transgenders.
Growing up was not difficult and this is even if I grew up with my brothers. Felt like a boy band to be honest (lol) but growing up with them felt like any other child with rowdy brothers would be - fun and chaotic :)
We spent some time in the province during summer and I came to love my sport which is volleyball. The sport became a part of me as I become a young adolescent and up to this day I can never say no whenever the court calls for me
- How was your teenage period?
A teenage period was a test of character I suppose. I braved every ridicule and did my best to be respected by my peers. It was fun but I had to be cautious not to get the prying eyes of the public. It wasn't easy but it was like no other. I discovered the chill in an embrace and had those jolts down one's spine on my first kiss. The period is something I'd want to go back to. It was liberating and I can taste the sweet zest of youth
- You are a Transsexual person or LadyBoy, how you recall it on the Philippines. When did you start to go to the public as a TS person?
When I was a young adolescent I made it known to my family and to the world that I am a transgender. It need not be verbalized actually. All that I did was go out with other trans friends and join pageants here and there. I didn't experience any disapproval because I guess the household needed a princess
- Reaction from your close friends and family?
Nothing negative. I am one of those lucky trans people to have been accepted and well supported by my family while growing up
- You are an entrepreneur. Tell us more about that.
Back in college, I had a clown for a job. I joined pageants and learned to love to make up and dressing up. One day I came to realize that styling can be a source of money so I did it. Today I run MissB Gowns and makeup studio which is a styling studio and we have dresses and long gowns for rent for any occasion and to top that we do their makeups too.
- Beauty queen?
yes. I have won the following titles
Queen of Cebu International 1st Runner Up 2010
Mandaue Gay Pageant 2nd Runner Up 2015
- Fashionista. How are you involved in fashion?
I am involved in fashion as a stylist. I love dressing people up and making them look like their best versions. As for myself, fashion is styling simply as I do value money and I don't see sense in splurging for luxurious items
- You are a model too, that is why we contacted you in a first place. Tell us about your modeling work. Your photos are stunning.
I am a freelance model. I have been castes in local runway shows but not to often now. Age and time has taught me to prep others for it although I still pose for the camera once in a while
- Traveller. Favorite destination so far and why ?
Japan is the most recent country I have been to and Tokyo is on top of the list. fashion, food, weather -- name it and the zen Japan has it
- Tell us about LGBT community in your town and Philippines.
The LGBT in our community is accepted. We have an org named SEMGAB and it is an organization recognized by our local government unit. we have transgendered in all walks of life and we create activities that would expose us to the world to be understood and to be celebrated and accepted
- Are you active in LGBT life?
I am
- What LGBT friendly places could you recommend to tourists when they come to the Philippines ?
everywhere in Luzon and Visayas is LGBT friendly. I personally haven't gone to Mindanao because of Islam and I respect their religion and I don't want to disrespect it by going to their place and put myself up for something scary and I am not sure if they are in support of my causes either
- What would be your advice to young girls who would like to start modeling career?
Just follow whatever your heart says if you love what you do then go for it. Don't worry about what they say if they can't bring food to your table.
- Can you give an advice, to people in general, how not to be ashamed of their body? We have published curvy and plus size bikini & nude models, they have had a big problem with their confidence before they started to do modeling.
Looking good starts with feeling good. If you don't accept yourself, then the world will follow
- Advice to TS girls in general? How to be open and brave like you?
Be yourself and strive hard to let the world marvel at your achievements
