Delphine - She walks in beauty
I was shy but I never felt too embarrassed in front of a camera, even the first time (though you can tell by my older pictures I wasn't confident as I am right now). For me it was like a therapy, it was more than posing and having pretty pictures of myself ; I learned to accept my flaws more than I did before and simply feeling better even if I'm still working on it today.
Tell us where are you from, how old are you, something about growing up
I was born in Vietnam but I was adopted very, very young so basically I live in France since forever. I am twenty one years old and I always felt French, even though some people tend to reminds me I don't "look" like one, still today. As a child, I felt really bad about it ; I remember I used to regret to not be Caucasian so that would be easier this way. Now I learned to embrace my "differences", because that's a part of me I can't change anyway and I realized that was not a flaw, that is what is making me more "unique" somehow.
What were your childhood dreams - like, what did you want to become when you grow up
I'm actually surprised how pretty down to earth I was back then ; as a child I always wanted to be an illustrator or something that inclued drawing (no singing, acting or even modelling dream for me) ! When I grew up, (about thirteen years old) I discovered digital art thanks to the internet and I ended to progressively left drawing for Photoshop, so I thought I'd become a infographist... But no. How ironic it is to be more sure of your choices when you're a ten-years-old girl than a young adult...
Tell us about your regular day - how does it look like
I don't really have regular day at the moment, everyday is different depending if I have photoshooting or not. If not, I wake up (not so early I have to admit it), I check my social medias then I go downstairs and I drink some fruit juice. Moving on to the afternoon, depending if my boyfriend is there or not ; if he is, I'll go downtown with him, take a walk and have a drink. If he isn't, I'll go hanging out with my friends. Sometimes I just want to be home so I stay home and I look for castings, I check my mails or I just chill out, watching of some YouTube videos or that kind of stuff. And I try to do sports three times per week.
Model life. How and when did you start with modeling
I started modelling step by step ; I never felt very confident or pretty in high school, I was definitely not a part of the "cool kids" and I'd rather be invisible than being under the spotlights so modelling was not even an option. But one day when I was in 12th grade a friend ask me to pose for her just for fun so I accepted. She posted the pics on her Facebook page and she get many compliments, I did too. From that, other photographers contacted me and so on but I didn't take that seriously until the last year's end.
First experience in front of the camera - How did you feel
I was shy but I never felt too embarrassed in front of a camera, even the first time (though you can tell by my older pictures I wasn't confident as I am right now). For me it was like a therapy, it was more than posing and having pretty pictures of myself ; I learned to accept my flaws more than I did before and simply feeling better even if I'm still working on it today.
What kind of photos do you prefer. Also, do you like to take instructions from the photographer or to be a part of the shooting ideas.
Fashion editorial type of shooting is my favorite so far ! I also like lingerie sessions (just because as mentioned below I love pretty lingerie). When I was less experimented I'd rather being directed by the photographer but now I'm more used to pose on my own so I feel a bit disoriented if the photographer doesn't let me move by myself at all.
Lingerie photos - your favorite lingerie that you like to wear during the photo session
I payed more attention to lingerie when I started dating boys four years ago and I left my push-up bras for cute lace bralettes. Now I live for great lingerie, I think have more sets than shoes (that I'm still wearing). I especially like black, nude, dark red and navy blue colors when it comes to underwear. I appreciate delicate lace, tulle and sheer fabrics. I like it sexy but not vulgar or cheap looking.
Nude photos - when have you done your first nude photo session ? How was the feeling ? Reactions ?
I did my first real nude session last year, (in November I think) with a professional photographer who became a good friend of mine. He was young but he was the most experimented photographer I met until then so I was kind of impressed, but he has been very nice and cool so I felt safe enough to do it. I really liked the result, those tests are still my best photos to my opinion. Surprisingly, I didn't get so much hate as I was expecting, of course some were like "Oh my God" and a few guys sent me annoying messages after they saw but no one insulted me, at least I didn't hear anything directly. But at the same time, the pictures were very well edited and I only accept nude projects when the style is classy, not trashy so nobody can contest that. I never told my mom though, she wouldn't understand.
High fashion - tell us more about that. What do you consider by high fashion, favorite brands
Unfortunately I don't fit into haute couture standards as a model, but as a fashion lover I really like high fashion. To me that's a real form of Art, the finest part of what fashion can be, creatively and technically. I love beautiful gown, that's why I would say Elie Saab and Zuhair Murad are my favorite brands, their creations always amaze me. As a French girl I love French creators too, Chanel for the classy vibes and Saint Laurent for that rock n' roll/boyish side.
Tattoos. You have one or several. What does they mean to you
I have one single tattoo on my right shoulder/scapula, that's an half graphic half mosaic whale that a friend draw for me... The story behind it is quite complicated and I'll be honest, I kinda regret it sometimes because that's a problem for modelling jobs I'm looking at because it's very colorful and not that small, but at that time I didn't know I would do what I do now as first job activity. Fortunately it's mostly located in my scapula so it's easier to hide.
Plans for the rest of this year
If everything goes well, I will move in to my boyfriend's new flat so we can live together. I hope I will have more modelling opportunities so maybe I'd be able to entirely live from that activity for a while... I also planned to do research on fashion management studies, because even if the future is still blurry in my head, I think that is what will fit me the best and I'm aware that a model career won't last all my life.
