Shani Rose - Model Mom

I can’t believe I’m going to have my 4rth child, it’s crazy! I’m a divorced mom of 3 kids, so I do get breaks.

I miss them a lot when they are not with me. I stay busy by modeling and being a homemaker. I have a lot of anxiety so It’s hard for me to sit still unless I’m sick.

When I’m with my kids I try to not to plan a lot of shoots when they are here.

Sometimes, when I do have a shoot and I’m traveling, I will bring them with me.

It’s fun for them. My kids love staying in hotels, it’s like a mini vacation for them! I try to find hobbies and fun activities when they are visiting me.

I was born and raised in Southern California. My younger years I grew up in an Orthodox Jewish community in Los Angeles. My family and I moved to Orange County where I spent my teenage years growing up. My most memorable moments were camping and traveling a lot with my family. In school, I was extremely shy and became more outgoing as I got older.

My dream growing up was to become a model and actress. I always thought I would never have a chance to model because I wasn’t tall enough. I remember I would rip out pages out of magazines of Kate Moss and other supermodels and hang them up my wall.

My favorite idol growing up was Michelle Pheiffer. I always loved watching her act and always thought she was beautiful.

I started modeling in January 2018. I just completed a bikini competition and posted a picture on my IG. A Photographer, Alan Nichols noticed me then reached out to me and asked if I wanted to do a shoot. It was my very first shoot. I did it in a milk bath. In the beginning, I was very nervous and was feeling insecure but had fun! Took a lot of great photos.

I decided to be a model when a photographer, Alan Nichols told me about Modelmayhem. I posted some photos on there and started getting a lot of request for shoots. In the beginning, I did a lot of TFP to expand my portfolio but now I’m doing mostly paid work and loving what I do. I always had a passion for it but never had the recourses. It has been a crazy year.

For my photo shoot, I usually spend two hours getting ready with hair, makeup, and lashes. If I have time before a shoot I usually like to get a quick workout in. I stay in shape by working out this gym called Missing Link Crossfit. Not only do they do Crossfit but also does a lot of strength based movements and a huge emphasis on the fundamentals. It’s a one group class and kicks my butt!

So I usually do implied nude shoots. It’s when your fully nude but you use objects or your hands to cover up your goodies. I rarely do nude shoots but when I do I usually like to do more artistic nude. I like to try and keep it classy.

My favorite lingerie for a shoot is a corset. I love how it holds everything in and gives you cleavage. I don’t really have a favorite lingerie in general. Im a sweatpants and T-shirt girl. Lol I honestly didn’t start owning lingerie till I started modeling. My husband never brings up the idea of me wearing lingerie, so I never bother wearing any. He’s a simple guy. I’m easy going and open to new ideas when it comes to photo shoots. If the photographer wants to take control of what lingerie I wear, then I’m ok with it.

The advice I would give young girls, that wants to start modeling, is to be careful when meeting up with a photographer. I would make sure to bring an escort if you can, especially if you feel sketchy about a photographer. Make sure to do a reference checkup with other models that worked with them. If it doesn’t feel right, then trust your instincts. Do n’t expect to get paid right away, you need to be patient and build a portfolio. Photographers will ask you to some TFP work in the beginning, so I would take advantage of that to start expanding your portfolio.

The biggest challenge for being a model-mom is having to say no to a lot of great modeling opportunities, like traveling for free to other counties or states. I’m remarried and my new husband is a marine, so we are stationed here in North Carolina. I’m not with my kids all the time because I'm divorced and they live in California. When my kids are here, I can’t leave them to travel and wouldn’t want to, since I don’t see them all the time. Another challenge for me is, staying off social media and talking all day with Photographers. I need to put my kids first because I miss those opportunities, spending quality time with them when they are not here. I feel guilty when my 6 year old daughter tells me to get off my phone and stop talking to my photographers. It’s cute how she says it but sad that she sees that I’m not focusing my attention on her.

I’m currently 21 weeks pregnant. When I saw that Maxim was looking for the next Cover Girl, I submitted my photos. I was super excited that I had a chance to compete for the next cover girl! I honestly, didn’t even think I would even have a chance. Unfortunately, I had to back out of the contest because if I was to win the next cover girl, the shoot would be around my due date. When I entered, I was thinking the shoot might be a couple of weeks or even months past my due date, so I can get back to my pre-baby bod. I’m planning on competing next year if I have another chance!

My plans for the rest of 2018 is to enjoy this pregnancy, do some maternity shoots, travel and prepare the house before the baby comes.

My social media account is my IG @modelmom81 where I post just modeling work. I also use Modelmayhem which is ShaniRose. For Facebook its Shani Coleman. My email is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
