Megan - Becoming a model and being a role model
My confidence in myself and in photographers is building each day.
My eye/mind for recognizing talent, beauty, and art is broadening and the support from friends, family and from other models has been amazing!
We even have our own local model group chat where we can recommend photographers, ideas, and locations to each other.
It’s an industry that I didn’t expect so much support from as people are very quick to judge but I have gained more than ever and for that I am thankful.
I am a single mum to a beautiful 5 month old baby boy. Right now he is so pure and innocent. But one day he will be a little boy who will grow up with a dream.
I know this because I was once just a little girl who grew up with a dream, a few dreams actually. One of the dreams was to become a model. It’s a dream that I am now 26 years later, finally following and one I don’t want to wake from it.
I have only really been modelling for the last few months so there is still so much for me to learn and hopefully achieve. One thing I have learned is to just be myself and not try to copy what others have done.
I have done previous work in promo, stilt walking and ring girl work at the boxing for a few years now so I was fairly confident going into my first shoot but it was more the photographer who put me at ease.
Gareth Welch was who my first photoshoot was with. He is just lovely. Very kind, laid back, fun and so reassuring. The shots he captures are just fantastic. The thing about Gareth is that his support doesn’t stop throughout the whole experience, this starts from the moment you contact him and still to this day, months later, hasn’t stopped.
Since my first shoot, I have shot many different styles including topless/nude. My confidence in myself and in photographers is building each day. I have more shoots booked for this year to continue to build my portfolio but these are very few and far between as my time with my baby boy is precious. He’ll soon outgrow my lap.
I want to teach my son that if you work hard enough and chase your dreams, that one day, they may just come true.
Your life changes when you have a baby, but it doesn’t stop and that’s why modelling, I do for me. Role modelling, I do that for my baby.
